NAPRHSW New York City Chapter Update
Presenting the Chapter's New Executive Board
by Juan A. Ocasio, LMSW, NYC Chapter 2nd VP
Latino social workers mingled and munched during the New York City Chapter’s recent Annual Meeting held on June 13, 2006 at Bonito’s Restaurant in El Barrio. Social workers from all aspects of practice were present to support the Chapter, network with colleagues, and to have a good time. The Chapter’s new and recently elected Executive Board was presented to the membership during the activity. They are:
|
L to R: Myrna Noble, Juan Ocasio,
Alma Ramos, Teresa Cano, Nancy Espinal,
Margarita Cotto, Rafael Pagan, Clarissa Silva |
The activity also featured the poetry and performances of the members of El Grito De Poetas, a local group which performed poetry and spoken word laced with social themes. The New York City Chapter also honored school social worker Margarita Cotto with the Best Practice Award, for her outstanding work on the well-publicized Nixmary Brown case. Members generally enjoyed the artistic décor, great food, and good company of Bonito Restaurant.
The new Executive Board sends a warm GRACIAS to all who came out to support the event and invites fellow Latino social workers to join the New York City Chapter by e-mailing us or writing to P.O. Box 369, Triborough Station, New York, NY 10035-0369.
